Religion
William Penn, born October 14, 1644, founded the Pennsylvania colony as a safe space for fellow Quakers and people of other ostricized religions. He died July 30, 1718.
Women often worked inside the home, but also had other jobs such as working in taverns, being blacksmiths, and retail.
Due to William Penn being a Quaker, most of the Pennsylvania colony believed in Quakerism, or the Society of Friends. However, the colony promoted religious liberty, due to past Quaker experiences with persecution.
